Last week, President Obama proposed to freeze the pay of federal workers for the next two years. The murmurs around the office included:
“We all have to make sacrifices to get the deficit under control.”
“At least we still have jobs!”
“A hiring freeze might be next!”
“Obama!” (with fist shaking in the air) “Why did I vote for you?”
Federal workers might be America’s new favorite target, but I have to wonder whether Obama’s plan will really solve the problems of the struggling economy.
